Recent Celtic signing David Turnbull has disclosed that he was always confident that he would overcome the serious injury setback that delayed his move to Celtic Park for a year, the Hoops’s official Twitter account reports.
As is well-known by now, Turnbull was meant to sign for the Hoops last summer before a knee injury scuppered the deal, and led to an operation for the player.
However, he is now fully fit, and Turnbull never had any doubt that his injury issue would be dealt with.
“Get back to the player I was”
“I took it day by day. Some days it was tough. My teammates and the physio helped me a lot and I knew I’d get back to the player I was” Turnbull said, as quoted by the Celtic Twitter account.
Turnbull certainly seems confident in his ability, and why shouldn’t he be? After all, Celtic were willing to wait a year to get the deal done, which shows how much the Hoops value the midfielder.

Turnbull has featured in all of Motherwell’s games this season, so there is no question mark over his fitness. Therefore, you imagine that he will be in the squad to face his former team at Celtic Park on Sunday.
Vote of confidence to start against former side
It will be interesting to see if Turnbull gets the nod from Neil Lennon to start the game. It would certainly be a vote of confidence in the player’s abilities, that only a few days after signing he is starting a game for his new club.

However, Celtic are in need of a lift following the club’s midweek Champions League exit. Turnbull could be that boost to lift the club.
You would also imagine that Turnbull will be eager to do well against his former club. If he doesn’t start the game, hopefully he gets at least half an hour to show what he can do. Turnbull could be a big player for Celtic this season, hopefully that begins on Sunday.
In other news, Celtic will reportedly look to sign a left-back in the transfer window.
