Celtic’s dominance over Motherwell; the omens look good

As Celtic fans currently enjoy the sheer dominance that this side holds over Scottish football, not since the days of Jock Stein have we enjoyed such a prolonged period of success.

Yes, we have had the odd season where we haven’t managed to pick up a trophy but over the main, since the turn of the century, Celtic fans have enjoyed nothing but success.

And as we prepare to face Motherwell this Saturday at Celtic Park, three points will take us one game closer to becoming officially crowned champions again.

It will also continue our dominance over The Well where it has been eight years since they were last victorious at Celtic Park.

The 19th of December 2015 was the last time Celtic succumbed to a home defeat to The Steelmen.

A 2-1 loss meant that was the first time since the Tony Mowbray era where we failed to win at home in four attempts.

But since then, we have enjoyed near-total domination of the Lanarkshire side.

The last time we dropped points against the mid-table side was in December 2018 after a 1-1 draw at Fir Park. Three draws in total since the loss were all away from home.

Aside from that, Celtic have won every fixture in the league. With some hefty wins to boot.

The 6-0 win on trophy day last season was the biggest win since 2016 where, ironically Celtic avenged the 2-1 loss suffered in December with a record 7-0 victory at Celtic Park.

We have only dropped points on three other occasions since that loss. All away from home.

But at Celtic Park, we have won every fixture since.

The game is a sell-out and the fans will be hoping for a repeat performance of last season’s trophy day to take us one step closer to domestic dominance.
