Celtic sent eight players to the 2026 World Cup, and FotMob’s final numbers show just how differently each of their tournaments unfolded.
Some of Martin O’Neill’s Celtic players were trusted to start regularly for their countries. Others barely had enough time to make an impression.
Only 0.05 separated the leading two, while one Celtic player ended the tournament without receiving a rating.

Daizen Maeda tops the Celtic World Cup ranking
Daizen Maeda finishes top of the Celtic list with a tournament rating of 6.98. The Japan forward scored against Sweden and received an 8.0 for that performance.

Alistair Johnston was only 0.05 behind Maeda after playing all 450 minutes of Canada’s campaign. His 6.93 placed him third in the Canadian squad.
Auston Trusty takes third place after receiving ratings of 6.2 and 7.4 in his two appearances. The higher mark came against Turkey, when the Celtic defender scored despite the United States losing 3-2.
Limited World Cup minutes affected several Celtic players
Kieran Tierney’s 6.54 came from 105 Scotland minutes against Morocco and Brazil, while HyunJun Yang received 6.4 during his only rated World Cup appearance. Benjamin Nygren recorded scores of 6.7 and 5.6 during Sweden’s group campaign.
Sebastian Tounekti finished bottom of Celtic’s rated players after being given 5.8 against Sweden and 5.5 against Japan. Tunisia conceded nine goals across those two heavy defeats.
Anthony Ralston cannot be fairly placed because FotMob did not rate either of his Scotland appearances. The Celtic right-back played only one minute against Morocco and eight against Brazil.
Maeda returns to Celtic as the highest-rated World Cup representative, but Johnston’s workload makes his second-place finish every bit as impressive.
