Celtic’s Ewan Henderson feels that he benefited from a loan spell at Ross County last season, the Celtic View reports.
Henderson featured fairly regularly for the Premiership side in the first-half of last season before Celtic recalled the player in January. Despite the early end to the move, Henderson feels that it has benefited him overall.
“Overall, my time at Ross County was good” Henderson said, as quoted by the Celtic View (Volume 56, Issue 8, Page. 20).
“A really good experience”
“I played in 10 games during my loan time there. I thought I did well up there..it was a really good experience and gives me something to build up” he explained.
Henderson would have been pleased to get some first-team football on a regular basis. The chance of that happening at Celtic Park was denied last season, under unusual circumstances.
Chance to impress last season was denied
After Celtic brought the player back from Ross County in January, Henderson must have thought he had a real chance to make the breakthrough to the first-team.
As we all know though, the season was brought to a premature end only two months later. That prevented Henderson from getting a chance of having a run in the side. That must have been annoying for the player, but it was under unique circumstances.
Maybe Henderson will be sent out on loan again this season. After all, it should not be forgotten that Celtic’s most congested area of the squad is the middle of the park. However, at the age of 20, Henderson will be hoping to make a first-team breakthrough this season.
That will depend on how he gets on in training, Celtic having injury issues, a few things. Only time will tell if Henderson gets his chance this season. He does sound like a player who enjoys regular first-team football though. We shall find out sooner rather than later if he gets the chance to shine at Celtic Park.
In other news, Stephen Kenny was delighted that Shane Duffy signed for Celtic.
