Celtic’s Fraser Forster hails Odsonne Edouard

Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster’s opinion on Odsonne Edouard isn’t one that will surprise the Hoops support.

The number one is a big fan of the Frenchman. Forster has only been working with him for just over two months. However, given the fact they train every day, that’s been more than enough for the Southampton-owned shot-stopper to be impressed.

Edouard has rattled home 11 goals for Celtic this season. As well as that, however, he’s also managed an eye-watering nine goals in four games for France under-21s. It’s been a ridiculous start to the season for the talented forward.

And Forster is only the latest to come out and give him massive praise. Speaking in the Scottish Sun, the Englishman opened up on his new teammate.

“Odsonne has been absolutely brilliant. I’m fortunate I get to see him every day. He scored a hat-trick for France the other day and keeps banging in goals. He has a knack of scoring big goals at big times. I’m massively impressed.

“For certain he’s a top player. He’s got great feet and no one knows what he’s going to do. There is the way he goes past defenders — you think he’ll go one way but he goes the other way.

“He can take it on his left foot or right foot. He’s got that variety which makes it a nightmare for defenders. Is he going to the top? If he keeps doing what he’s doing and works hard there’s no reason he can’t have an amazing career.”

Edouard’s attitude will keep him on the right track

So often when it comes to talented young footballers, it can be their attitude that lets them down. But Celtic haven’t had any problems with the Frenchman’s mindset.

He’s never once come out and demanded a move away. Edouard is clearly happy with life in Glasgow, and seems happy to stay until Celtic accept an offer for him.

Of course, there were also the same signs with Moussa Dembele too. He’s another who seemed pleased with how things were going in Scotland. However, when Celtic tried to fend off interest from Lyon, he wasn’t too happy about it.

It still remains to be seen how Edouard handles himself in a situation like that. Would he be itching to push a move through if interest comes to anything? That’s something we can’t predict, but he’s given us no reason to believe he wouldn’t behave like a total professional.

The hype train regarding Eddy at the moment is on full steam. Players and scouts from around Europe are starting to take an interest, which shows the raw talent he has.

Hopefully, he thrusts himself into the spotlight once more against Lazio with a fine performance tomorrow night.
