Celtic is set to play Rangers in the Glasgow Derby this weekend.
Brendan Rodgers can take one step closer to winning a potential treble with a win over Rangers and help set up a title party for Celtic against St Johnstone in April.
But before that, Barry Ferguson will bring his Rangers side to Celtic Park as the interim Ibrox manager aims to ensure the gap between the two clubs doesn’t get larger before the end of the season.
As a player, Ferguson faced Celtic on a number of occasions but there was one particular Glasgow Derby that the former Rangers captain will not want to be reminded of before Sunday’s lunchtime showdown.

The day Celtic legend Henrik Larsson made Rangers’ Barry Ferguson see red
It’s a date forever etched in Martin O’Neill’s memory but for the Celtic fans attending the famous 6-2 Glasgow Derby in August 27th 2000, little did they know that they were watching history being made.
Not only did Chris Sutton score the fastest-ever Celtic goal against Rangers, but Henrik Larsson also popped up and created this piece of magic:
Larsson was incredible that day, netting a double and alongside Sutton’s two goals and Stiliyan Petrov and Paul Lambert’s strikes, Celtic recorded a 6-2 win in Martin O’Neill’s first derby as he Hoops manager.
One of the best parts of that day? Rangers captain Barry Ferguson also saw red after being dismissed for a second bookable offence.
That result sparked the decades of dominance that Celtic supporters are currently enjoying right now.
Barry Ferguson’s miserable record as a Rangers player vs Celtic
Ferguson played against Celtic 40 times as a player. Out of those occasions, the Parkhead club won 19, drew seven and lost just 14.
Celtic’s biggest win was, of course, this 6-2 victory at that time:
However, in the next ten fixtures after this demolition, Rangers lost six, drew two and won just two as O’Neill racked up a trophy after trophy in a dominant spell as the Celtic boss.
Fans will be hoping a similar result will be on the cards this Sunday but as many are likely to say, any win will do at this stage of the season.
