Celebrated football magazine Four Four Two have published their list of the most exciting teenagers in world football today and coming in at number 15 is a player who Celtic’s Greg Taylor shut down last week.

Yes, Manchester United player Amad Diallo, on loan at Rangers, has been given a prime top 20 spot in their list of 50 just behind Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund’s Giovanni Reyna.

Four Four Two say: “The winger is diminutive with a low centre of gravity; he loves nothing more than taking on left-backs before cutting in to set up teammates.”

Well, maybe not every left-back eh?

Taylor, at times maligned at Celtic for his perceived lack of quality, had Diallo firmly in his back pocket during last week’s derby at Celtic Park.

The Bhoys left-back was actually one of our top performers on the night, not only completely nullifying Diallo’s threat, but combining effectively with Jota and other players in the Celtic attack.

Diallo only managed to take 22 touches and complete 11 passes before being unceremoniously hauled off at half-time with Celtic 3-0 up. [WhoScored]

In fairness to the 19-year-old, it probably wasn’t his fault. Giovanni van Bronckhorst should never have played him in such a crucial fixture, in that atmosphere.

Diallo has bags of potential, but little experience and expecting him to do a job up against a seasoned professional such as Taylor was always folly.

Nonetheless, Taylor managing to take care of a much-hyped talent, who cost £20m to boot is a feather in his cap.

It’s certainly done his reputation with the Celtic support no harm at all.
