Celtic’s immense 2022/23 scoring record; Manchester City, PSG and more left behind
Celtic have netted more league goals this season than any other team in one of Europe’s top 40 top-flight leagues.
Ange Postecoglou‘s Hoops have scored a quite remarkable 74 goals so far in the Premiership this season, over 24 matches.
That’s an average of around 3.08 goals per match.
If you compare that tally to all of Europe’s top 40 top-flights, excluding the likes of Gibraltar, then the numbers are extremely favourable.
The nearest to our tally of 74 is Belgian side Genk who have netted 57 goals.
The likes of Rangers (56), Qarabag (54), Manchester City (53), Bayern Munich (52) and PSG (52) also feature on the list worked out by 67 Hail Hail earlier today.
In fact, the only team with a higher goals per game record than Celtic is Slavia Prague who have struck 56 goals in 17 matches this campaign. (3.29 per match)
So far in the Premiership, we have failed to score just one – in that surprising loss to St. Mirren in mid-September.
We’ve struck nine past Dundee United in a single game, six against Hibernian, five against Kilmarnock and four against Rangers, among others.
The stat is likely to please Ange Postecoglou who prides his teams on attacking with intent and netting goals regardless of the scoreline.
If we keep up our scoring record till the end of the league campaign, we’ll have netted around 117 goals.
For reference, last season we managed 92 and in the invincible season 106.
