Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he’s been hit with another injury blow ahead of Celtic’s match against St Johnstone, despite the return of Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Liam Scales has been ruled out of Saturday’s Scottish Premiership match after picking up a knock, ruling him out until after the international break.

Scales has been a go-to pick for the manager throughout the campaign. With 36 starts in total, few have played more minutes than him in a Celtic shirt this season.

Rodgers confirmed the news in a media conference this afternoon, meaning Scales joins Callum McGregor and Luis Palma on the sidelines.

The Bhoys captain and the Honduran will be assessed in the coming weeks ahead of a potential return before taking on Rangers at Ibrox.

Celtic boosted by return of Cameron Carter-Vickers

The good news is that Cameron Carter-Vickers is set to be involved despite his own injury scare last week that required a scan on his hamstring.

The United States international is available for the visit of Craig Levein’s side, again confirmed by Rodgers after the defender was spotted in Lennoxtown training earlier today.

Right now, it looks like Stephen Welsh will partner the Celtic standout in the defensive line alongside Alistair Johnston and Greg Taylor.

Celtic’s injury issues have been constant throughout the campaign in all areas of the pitch and the manager can’t seem to catch a break and get his best eleven on the park for any sort of consistent period.

That’s modern football for a lot of clubs. The coaching staff will be desperately hoping no niggles are picked up by international performers in the upcoming break and that the fortnight can actually be a major benefit to Celtic in terms of getting key players back to full fitness.
