Celtic fans travel to Serbia to watch their side take on Red Star Belgrade in their Europa League opener tonight.
Brendan Rodgers will want to ensure he leaves Belgrade with at least a point as Celtic and the fans will have hopes of qualifying from the Europa League phase.
As Rodgers prepares his Celtic team to take on Red Star, the club are also preparing the fans who are travelling to Belgrade.
And in Celtic’s statement this afternoon, the club sent a message to the travelling Parkhead support with important safety information every fan must be made aware of.

Celtic send travelling Parkhead support safety warning vs Red Star Belgrade
Celtic always send important information to fans whether they are travelling abroad or domestically.
But this afternoon Celtic published their message which had more safety instructions than normal for fans inside Belgrade:
- Fans are encouraged not to wear Celtic colours while in the city.
- Police advice is that all Celtic fans travel to the Stadium on the buses provided.
- There will be a holdback at full-time for Celtic fans for a minimum of 45 minutes and possibly longer. Police will confirm on matchday.
- Once the holdback is complete, there will be shuttle buses to take fans back to the meeting point (The Student Square) in the city centre.
- Advice for visiting the city is to stay together in groups, follow the advice of police and carry ID at all times.
Other information including gates, where to meet etc are all in the link above but it’s clear that the club are wary of Celtic supporters’ safety before, during and after the match in Belgrade.
Celtic warn fans about use of pyro ahead of UEFA match
Celtic have also warned the travelling support about the use of pyro for tonight’s game against Red Star Belgrade.
The club said, “The possession and use of fireworks, smoke bombs, firecrackers and all pyrotechnics are absolutely prohibited, due to the serious risk to spectator safety.”
Indeed, but there is another reason Celtic fans must be wary of pyro. The club could be fined or fans could be banned from future away trips should supporters set off the illegal fireworks tonight.
Safety is of paramount importance, of that there is no doubt but so is allowing supporters to travel abroad to support Celtic in these crucial matches.
