Celtic’s Maryan Shved has had his say on the manager he didn’t get to play for.

Brendan Rodgers signed the young Ukrainian in January but loaned him back out to Karpaty Lviv.

However, the Irishman moved to Leicester City a few days ago in a surprise transfer.

The loanee still wants to have an impact when he comes to Glasgow at the end of the season.

Shved is positive on Rodgers departure

The 21-year-old thinks the departing manager will be leaving on terms that are good for him.

Rodgers’ comments towards him in January had eyebrows raised but the £2 million signing was more respectful.

According to The Scottish Sun, Shved said: “I am very happy for him.

“He must believe he is taking a step forward by moving to a very good club like Leicester City. I will meet with the new coach when I get to Glasgow in the summer.

“It does not affect me in any way.”

Whoever the new manager is will have a major headache as the wing position is going to be stronger.

James Forrest is playing out his skin and Scott Sinclair is getting back to his old self, plus Lewis Morgan will return from his Sunderland loan.

The winger also speaks of how the former manager managed to get the former Sevilla man to Glasgow.

Shved said: “I spoke to Brendan Rodgers, he is a good person and I wish him luck in his new job.

“He even spoke with me in Spanish. I got the impression he rated me highly.”

However, some fans will question how highly this was going by his comments when Rodgers was asked about reports of Shved signing.

Rodgers said in January to Sky: “We’ve got about a million wingers and don’t need another one but he’s a talent and in the summer we’ll probably lose wingers and he’ll look to come in.

“It’s an opportunity for the club to sign a young talented player but not one that will probably help us now.”

Shved has it all to do in July when he finally joins up with The Bhoys.

This is his second chance at European football and will need to show what he can do or he may not get the opportunity again.
