Celtic pair Matt O’Riley and Kyogo Furuhashi are both pivotal to Brendan Rodgers’ mission of bringing success to Parkhead.

Last term, the duo in question registered 38 goals between them; meanwhile, O’Riley’s 18 assists laid on some crucial strikes as the Bhoys claimed a domestic double [Transfermarkt].

Now, with pre-season underway ahead of the new campaign, there is optimism that both men can come up trumps again for Celtic amid their quest for glory on all fronts.

In a long season, Rodgers has to rely on his key assets’ output, tasking them to step up to the plate and deliver when the pressure is on.

Furuhashi and O’Riley have formed quite the alliance in that respect, and the latter has now explained why their relationship has proved so fruitful.

O’Riley shed light on why he and Furuhashi have been able to reach new levels of productivity at Celtic, and he has indicated why that is the case, telling The Celtic View: “It’s very good, both on and off the pitch, I find him really easy to play with because his movement is so good.

“I think that he trusts that I’m always going to look to play in the ball, because I try to look forward as much as possible, so right from my first season here right up to now, we’ve had a really good relationship.

“I don’t know what the number is, but I’m sure a lot of my assists have come for him.”

Evidently, there is a level of trust between both players that helps to breed desired results on the pitch. Success at any level isn’t a coincidence, and you’d fail to find two individuals in Scotland who work better in tandem than O’Riley and Furuhashi.

The Bhoys are now back at it and will be grafting behind the scenes to try and build on another successful campaign last time out.

Hopefully, the men in question can continue their brilliance at Parkhead for time to come. If they do manage that, expect more silverware to arrive!
