Celtic winger Mohamed Elyounoussi has pipped Rangers rival Alfredo Morelos to this week’s SPFL Player of the Week award.
It was a fine weekend for both men. First up was Elyounoussi, who managed a fine double to help sink Hibernian by five goals to two at Hampden. He also managed an assist for Scott Brown’s fifth. It was, in truth, his most complete performance in a Celtic jersey.
Morelos and Rangers were up next, as they comfortably disposed of an insipid Hearts team just under 24 hours after our match. The Colombian managed a brace of his own and assisted the Ibrox side’s opening goal.
It was a fine weekend for both players. But, after consideration, the SPFL only had one decision they could make.
Not everyone was happy
Not many can argue with how influential Elyounoussi was. His movement caused Hibs all kinds of problems, and came close on a couple of occasions to nabbing a hat-trick.
He was unlucky in the end, but he took his Celtic tally to seven goals in 10 games. He’s managed to become the clear first-choice for the position too. All things considered, it hasn’t been a bad few weeks for Mo.
However, we say not many can argue, but there are always a couple who do. Some Rangers fans weren’t particularly pleased with the decision to have Mo as Player of the Week. Here’s a look at some of the reaction to the overall team:

Ah well, you can’t keep everyone happy. In all seriousness, it was a bit of a toss-up this week between Elyounoussi and Morelos. Both had very impressive performances against their respective opposition.
But Elyounoussi is starting to seriously motor, and you would bank on him starting the cup final next month. Rangers will be going all out to stop us from winning 10 domestic trophies in a row. Both Mo and Morelos will be vital contributors to their team’s cause.
As for the past weekend however, it’s our man who gets the recognition, and deservedly so.
