Celtic will find out over the next day or so what damage has been done to Jeremie Frimpong after Sunday’s match away to Motherwell, The Daily Record reports.

Frimpong was on the receiving end of a horror tackle from Devante Cole during the fixture.

The youngster was forced out of the game, and manager Neil Lennon has revealed there is suspected ligament damage and that he’ll have to undergo a scan.

Lennon told The Daily Record: “I didn’t get a good view of it because Jerry’s back was to me, but I saw the replay and he (Cole) is high and late.

“He (Frimpong) is in a lot of discomfort at the minute. It could be ligament damage, we don’t know yet. We will have to assess him over the next couple of days.

“I don’t know if it is ligament damage yet. It’s sort of thigh, lateral side, we will have to get him looked at.”

Meanwhile, defender Kristoffer Ajer has suffered a reoccurrence of the groin injury he sustained in the recent Europa League match against Lille.

It ruled him out of games against Aberdeen and Sparta Prague.

His participation in upcoming Norway games is now in doubt.

Lennon said, as quoted by The Daily Record: “He felt it at half-time and battled on with it, but he couldn’t continue. He will be a doubt for Norway, I would imagine.”

We’ll want both players back as soon as possible given their importance to the team.

The manager has named both of them in his starting eleven consistently all year.

Ajer is improving at centre-half, while Frimpong continues to show flashes of brilliance despite a trend of inconsistency.

We are crossing our fingers that neither are serious issues.

In other news, it looks like Scotland will keep Leigh Griffiths waiting on a start.
