It’s been a busy week for Celtic and the fans as the club unveiled three new signings to continue strengthening the team under Brendan Rodgers. Maik Nawrocki was unveiled as Rodgers’ fifth summer signing as the big defender commits to a five-year contract at the club.
And as the fans look forward to seeing their new man in action for the first time next season, Nawrocki took to Instagram to tell the fans that the feeling is mutual.
And whilst Nawrocki waits to introduce himself to the Celtic fans on the pitch, the club wasted no time in christening the big defender with a new nickname.
‘Rocky‘ will now be the name associated with Maik from now on as the club make a clever play on his surname. You can just imagine ‘Eye of the Tiger’ belting out over the tannoy should the big defender manage to find the back of the net at some point in his Celtic career.
Nawrocki also looks like he will be missed by his former team, Legia Warsaw. The Polish club took to Twitter to post a classy farewell message to the defender that helped them to a cup double last season.

Legia said, “After two years spent in Legia Warszawa, Maik Nawrocki leaves for Celtic FC. The transfer will be made after the standard administrative procedure related to the international change of a player’s club affiliation has been completed.
“Maik, thank you very much for representing Legia colors! Good luck in your future career.”
With less just over ten days to go until the new season kicks off, the Celtic support may not have to wait too long to catch a glimpse of their new signing. But all that depends on whether or not Cameron Carter-Vickers will be declared fit for Flag Day.
