Celtic’s Nir Bitton has named the player who inspired him growing up to want to become a footballer, the official Celtic website reports.
Interestingly, the player he has chosen played in a completely different position that Bitton does. That player – former Barcelona star Ronaldinho.
“He is the reason”
“It’s got to be the magician, Ronaldinho. He really was like a magician on the pitch, and I think he is the reason a lot of people love this game” Bitton said, as quoted by the Celtic website.

It is intriguing that Bitton is such a fan of a player who is completely different from him. The only thing the duo have in common is that they both play football.
Maybe Ronaldinho inspires Bitton when he makes his rare forays forward in a Celtic jersey. The Brazilian would no doubt be proud of some of the long-range efforts on goal that Bitton has done during his time with the Hoops.
Perhaps utility man wants to follow in his footsteps
Perhaps Bitton hasn’t given up hope of playing in an attacking role like his footballing hero. After all, he is well-known for playing in more than one position.

In his time at Celtic, he has played in both defence and attack. Who knows, perhaps the next step is attacking midfield?
Neil Lennon will have the final say on that one. The Hoops boss will more than likely to be content to keep Bitton in the positions he currently plays in.
