Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard’s brace yesterday was one of the highlights of the day against Ross County.
French Eddy took his Celtic tally for the season up to 11 with his tremendous display. Firstly, he latched onto a dreadful Keith Watson header to slide past Ross Laidlaw when through on goal. He then made it 4-0 when his header towards the back post wasn’t cleared by Liam Fontaine.
However, the display also comes just days after bagging his ninth goal in four games for France under-21s. That’s made him hot property back home, with such promise over his future.

And it seems that L’Equipe haven’t taken their eyes off him now that he’s back in Scotland. The most popular source for French football reported on Celtic’s hammering of County yesterday. They stated that Edouard still has a “warm foot” after his brace.
One comment on the piece asks whether Edouard could potentially replace Olivier Giroud in the France senior side one day.
Edouard could’ve done with that performance yesterday
You feel that’s the kind of display that Odsonne needed yesterday. Having failed to net against Hibernian or Livingston respectively, he would’ve started to get frustrated had he failed to net once again.

Edouard’s last domestic goals for Celtic came when he bagged another brace against Kilmarnock at Celtic Park several weeks ago. Since then, he netted in the Europa League against Cluj, but didn’t manage another domestic goal.
His performance yesterday just reiterated that he’s going to be such a key player for us this season. It’s no wonder Neil Lennon is booting out any interest in his star-striker for now (Daily Record). If we’re to have a top campaign, Eddy will be central to it.
The fact his performances are still being noticing by L’Equipe also expresses the impact he’s made in France. He’s turning into a red-hot commodity, and that’s a worry for us to an extent.

But Celtic can’t live in fear of their players gaining a reputation. That’s what we want to see as supporters of the club, and for strikers, their reputation is always increased when they bag goals.
Edoaurd, at the moment, is just on fire. Even when he goes through a spell of one or two games without a goal, you always know it won’t be long before the next one comes around. And once again, he’s come up big for Celtic to storm us to the top of the table.
