Celtic captain Scott Brown has disclosed that he does not what to expect when the Hoops take on Ross County in front of 300 fans on Saturday, the Scottish Sun reports.
It will be the first time that Celtic have played in front of a crowd since March. It is one of two test fixtures that are taking place, the other being Aberdeen against Kilmarnock.
Fans need to adhere to strict rules
However, as reported by BBC Sport, the 300 Ross County fans in attendance will need to adhere by a strict set of rules.
For example, face masks are to be worn at all times. Perhaps most bizarrely for football, there is to be no singing, shouting or chanting. Fans are also to remain seated during the game.
That is going to make for an odd atmosphere at Victoria Park, as Brown pointed out.
“It’s going to be weird for the fans as well as they have to wear masks and won’t be able to shout” Brown said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“Something different”
“So they are just sitting on their hands. It’s going to be something different, but we are just going to have to deal with it” he concluded.
It is going to be a surreal occasion for both the players and the crowd in attendance in Dingwall. Celtic will be used to not playing with fans in the stadium. Fans not making any noise is a different thing though.
It might be the only game that Celtic play featuring fans for a good while. The Scottish government’s announcement that test fixtures will be cancelled until October the 5th means that it will at least be a month before the Hoops have a chance to play in front of fans.
Celtic’s first game after that date is against Rangers on the 17th of October. It is unlikely that fans will be at that fixture.
In a season which is really unlike any other, this is another hurdle for Brown and the rest of the Celtic side to overcome.
Hopefully the bizarre atmosphere doesn’t affect the team’s performance.
