Wilfried Nancy’s first-ever signing at Celtic is Mexican defender Julian Araujo.

Araujo arrives at Celtic during one of the worst run of results in the club’s most recent history as the Bhoys sit second in the league table.

The Mexico international is likely to be thrown into today’s Glasgow Derby against Rangers at Celtic Park in what could be an explosive debut for Nancy’s new signing.

However, as Celtic released footage of Araujo in training, the Parkhead club appear to have created a fresh mystery surrounding on-loan Man City defender, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey.

Jahmai Simpson-Pusey spotted at Celtic training amid reports of Man City return

Simpson-Pusey has made just one appearance for Celtic after Martin O’Neill handed him his debut in the 4-0 win over Kilmarnock in November.

And as reports said Man City were due to recall Simpson-Pusey when the transfer window opened, it appears that may not be the case now.

Celtic released footage of Araujo’s first training session and Simpson-Pusey can be spotted getting prepared for it around 10 seconds into the video.

The young defender is unlikely to feature for Celtic and has not had a single first-team minute under Wilfried Nancy, so a return to his parent club would make sense.

What Martin O’Neill thought of Jahmai Simpson-Pusey at Celtic

After handing Simpson-Pusey his Celtic debut, Martin O’Neill delivered his critique of the young defender in his usual jokey manner.

O’Neill said of the youngster, “I took a bit of a risk, really, on the Manchester City lad [Simpson-Pusey]. I thought if he could play as a centre half, he could play out there.

“He got off to… not a brilliant start. I thought about taking him off after four minutes. Don’t tell him that! He did fine, and I think he got applauded off the pitch, which was nice.

“Not necessarily by me, but honestly, I was delighted.”

With the transfer window just recently opened, there is still plenty of time for Simpson-Pusey to return to Man City as he’s clearly not part of Celtic’s plans.
