Callum McGregor has won many trophies during his time at Celtic but his first title as captain of the club must be his sweetest yet.
The midfielder has been sensational this season, not only picking up the mantle of Scott Brown but producing consistent performances and powering the Bhoys towards a league and cup double.
He was visibly emotional at Tannadice last night as the team got over the line, leading the celebrations and giving an interview on Sky Sports.

Callum McGregor talks Celtic title triumph
However, it was his comments on Radio Scotland that really resonated with me. McGregor gave an all-time classic interview on Sportsound, with the quotes sure to resonate and go down as memorable.
He told the broadcaster: “I’m absolutely so proud of the lads, of everyone at the club. We’ve all come together, a new group of players and they’ve been absolutely relentless since day one.
On the Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou, McGregor continued: “He has been unbelievable. This group of players trust him so much. You can see the supporters love him as well. He’s come in with real authority and real identity for what he wants to do with this football club.”
Then, the best quote of all, on bouncing back from last season’s disappointment: “You’ve got to believe in yourself. We had a good run at being champions. You take a slap in the face. Then you’ve got to show your personality. You’ve got to come back. Show you’re made of strong stuff. These scenes tonight will live in my heart forever.”
McGregor has been fantastic in the media all season long, helping sell Postecoglou’s vision for the Bhoys from as early as last summer.
It’s utterly fantastic to see him exorcise the ghosts of 2020/21 and put Celtic back on top of Scottish football. Nobody has worked harder to do that. It means as much to him as anyone else.
What a player. What a man. What a captain!
