RB Leipzig star Emil Forsberg has admitted his side were initially impressed by Celtic in last night’s 3-1 UEFA Champions League result in Germany.

The experienced Swedish international has also stated his excitement at travelling to Glasgow next week to savour the incredible Celtic Park atmosphere.

Celtic helped their own against the Bundesliga outfit for around an hour of the Wednesday fixture, creating a number of chances in the first half and then equalising shortly after half-time.

Assessing the match and looking ahead to next week, Forsberg told LKZ and RBLive: “We knew that Celtic can find good solutions with the ball. We were prepared, so it was a high-intensity game.

“Celtic wanted to play fast football, we were also a bit impressed at the beginning. But in the second half we brought the three points home.

“It will be a fantastic game with an incredible atmosphere (next week). It will be another important game for us. We are making good progress every day, we have a lot of intensity and quality. We are on the right track.”

Leipzig have travelled to Glasgow twice in recent years but Forsberg didn’t play against either Celtic or Rangers.

We don’t want opponents just turning up to enjoy a nice night, though. Hopefully, Celtic Park can be a weapon for the Bhoys in overcoming the German team.

If Ange’s Bhoys can harness the energy of what is sure to be a raucous crowd, then it will really help set the tone up against a strong attacking outfit.

We need unity, noise and colour on and off the pitch.
