Celtic are going through a period of fan unrest and division.
After a disappointing transfer window, many Hoops fans have accused the board of failing to back Brendan Rodgers.
A controversial Celtic statement released on a Saturday night only angered fans further, and led to a protest in Sunday’s win over Kilmarnock.
A failure to replace the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi and Nicolas Kuhn led to a failure to qualify for Champions League, despite the club sitting on a wad of cash.
Things are however much rosier on the domestic front – so there are certainly doubts over a few questionable claims made by one former Rangers midfielder.
Charlie Adam on difficult situations at Celtic and Rangers
Compared to Rangers, Celtic are cruising. The Hoops have won four and drawn one of their league games so far, whilst their neighbours are yet to pick up a win.

But speaking on the current situation in Scotland, Charlie Adam came to under-fire Ibrox boss Russell Martin’s defence, and also claimed that Hearts and Hibs are more stable than Celtic at the minute.
He said on TalkSPORT: “For whatever reason at the moment, it doesn’t seem to be clicking. I thought Russell was a good appointment, he’s got a good playing style, he understands what he wants to do, but at the moment it seems to be going through a tough period.
“A lot of people in England won’t realise, but your Aberdeens, Hearts and Hibs are big clubs in terms of fanbases. It would be good for them to get a challenge as [Celtic] have dominated for so long.
“Celtic are nine points clear of Rangers and they’re having a go at the board and owners, so it’s a difficult situation for a lot of clubs – but I’d probably say Hearts and Hibs are the two most stable in terms of supporters and clubs at the minute.”
To compare the current situations at the two Glasgow clubs is certainly something.
Will Celtic face a serious title race this season?
Celtic are already nine points clear of their neighbours, as Adam mentions. But they are level on points with Derek McInnes’ Hearts.
The idea of a potential title race involving clubs from elsewhere has already been floated, but Brendan Rodgers has seen this movie before.
Last season saw Aberdeen maintain a neck-and-neck title race with the Hoops until well into November, but things fell away very fast.
Celtic face Hearts at Tynecastle at the end of October – should the race still be close by then, things could get interesting. But until then, the status quo will remain.
