Charlie Christie has offered Ryan Christie some advice after his red card against Livingston on Sunday.
Christie has been cut up about the red card he received for his challenge on Scott Robinson last weekend. It cost Celtic the game, and led to him leaving Twitter because of abusive comments towards him.
Scotland assistant manager Steven Reid confirmed that he was still a little down after joining up with the Scotland squad. Christie clearly knows the severity of his red (Daily Record).

However, his dad Charlie has been putting his arm around him and giving him some one-to-one advice. Speaking to BBC Sportsound, here’s what Charlie told his son.
“Ryan is pretty down. I’m feeling for him, it’s a learning curve. It’s a bad decision and he is getting lambasted for it.
“But as I said to him last night when he was very down, ‘it’ll be old news soon’. The people that matter know he is not like that, his manager knows that, the opposition manger knows that and anyone with any knowledge in the game knows it.
“There is always going to be supporters who have a pop, that’s the easy thing to do. I said to Ryan, ‘It’s not all plaudits, you have a lot since July, now its a minor setback.”
Is this in danger of getting blown our of proportion?
Everyone agrees the decision from Christie to go in on Robinson was wrong. Nobody will deny that, and it did indeed end up costing us the game. It wasn’t the only factor, but it was a huge one.
However, it’s one mistake. One mistake from a player who’s arguably been our player of the season this year. It’s being blown out of proportion, and too much is being made of the error.

It’s Christie’s first red card for Celtic. This one is sure to hit him hard considering what it led to. However, there are 30 games remaining in the Premiership alone to make up for it. Making sure we win the title come the end of them is all that matters.
It’s frustrating that Christie will have a two-game ban to chew on. He would surely much rather be out there a week on Saturday against Ross County to try and put this all behind him.

With his father having to give him some warm advice, it’s clear Christie is cut up. But, again, all players make mistakes, and this won’t be the only error Christie ever makes in his career.
It’s been a season of praise for the Scotland international so far. And come the Ross County game, like Charlie said, nobody will even be talking about it.
