Chris Sutton has declared that Rangers have finished the season in Celtic’s shadow, despite managing to win the Scottish Cup final against Hearts.

The Ibrox side emerged as 2-0 winners at Hampden after extra-time thanks to goals from Ryan Jack and Scott Wright.

It comes after Celtic already managed to win both the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish League Cup.

Speaking on Twitter, Sutton said: “Good win for Rangers. The players showed plenty of guts and character after Wednesday night but they’ve finished the season in Celtic’s shadow once again.”

Sutton had, earlier in the day, also mocked Kevin Thomson’s assertion that Rangers could surpass the feats of the Lisbon Lions, had they beaten Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.

The former Celtic striker stated on social media to much hilarity: “Good luck to both teams in the Scottish Cup Final today. If Rangers win it will surpass Celtic’s 1967 team as the greatest achievement ever in the world.”

Celtic have undoubtedly had the best season in Scottish football and are in a very strong position heading into the summer.

The best part is that Ange Postecoglou won’t rest on what’s been achieved. He has big ambitions to turn Celtic into a team that can compete in Europe as well as win every trophy domestically.

If we can add five or six quality players to the squad, there’s every chance it could happen as well.

What a season it’s been!
