Earlier on Wednesday Celtic delivered some news that fans have been waiting to hear. The club announced that Callum McGregor had signed a new long-term contract with the club.
It is great news for Celtic, as McGregor has been one of the most consistent players at the club over the last three to four seasons.
One man who gave his opinion on the new deal was Hoops legend Chris Sutton. Now, as a very outspoken individual, you have expected Sutton to be full of opinions about McGregor’s new deal. However, he was succinct and to the point about the situation.
Uncharacteristically didn’t say a lot about new deal

“Good news for this for Celtic…” was all he said about the new deal.
Perhaps that is all that needs to be said about the new contract for McGregor. It is wonderful news for Celtic, and it should be celebrated by the Hoops support.
It is a good piece of timing by the club too, coming as it does two months before the transfer window opens once more.
Any thoughts of key player leaving club should be over

McGregor could well have been a man in demand. Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City reportedly tried to buy the player in the August transfer window, a move which the Hoops turned down.
However, all thoughts of McGregor leaving the Hoops should end for the time being as he has committed his future to the club.
Hopefully he helps lead Celtic to nine in a row and beyond. Maybe then Chris Sutton will have more to say on the player’s abilities.
