Chris Sutton does not think that Odsonne Edouard will try to leave Celtic in the current transfer window, the Daily Record reports.

Edouard is always going to be the subject of speculation about his future, as he is arguably Celtic’s best player. In July, the Scottish Sun reported that Crystal Palace were set to launch a £25m bid for the player. Obviously, that didn’t happen, as yet.

However, you have to think that clubs will be interested in the player with only 10 days to go before the transfer window closes.

Despite that, Sutton doesn’t think that the player will ‘down tools’ and try to force a move away from the club.

“Edouard has been the focus from the other night and I admit the mixed messages have created confusion. He had come back from injury and looks like he needs games, yet Lennon said he was tired and needed rested” Sutton began, writing in his Daily Record column.

“Nothing in the player’s character”

“He wasn’t at the races in Latvia but there is absolutely nothing in the player’s character that suggests he’s about to down tools or look for a move away” he concluded.

There seems to be a bit of hysteria when Edouard doesn’t play well. There are plenty of comments about his body language. However, it should be remembered that Edouard is just back from injury.

Not a concern that he struggled in recent game

Not playing well against Riga isn’t something to get worked up about either. Few Celtic players performed well on the night.

As for Neil Lennon saying that the player was tired, that would be no shock either. We are in a bizarre footballing situation at the moment, with games coming thick and fast. It could take players time to adjust to what is going on.

In his time at Celtic, Edouard has been the epitome of professionalism. There is no reason for that to change now. There might be clubs interested in the player. However, Sutton doesn’t think Edouard will look to force a move, and he is correct to think that.
