Celtic legend Chris Sutton had some advice for Hoops fans following Thursday night’s 3-1 Europa League win over Rennes. The victory saw the Hoops clinch top spot in Group E after only five games. That is certainly a notable achievement.
Sutton took to social media after the game and told Celtic fans not to ‘get bored’ of such an achievement.
“Relentless”

“Job done, group done, don’t get bored of this. Celtic relentless at present, great to see Mikey Johnston back with a terrific goal” Sutton said.
It is easy to see where Sutton is coming from. Celtic’s achievement in topping the group is something that should be shouted from the rooftops. Results like Celtic’s in Europe this season should not be taken from granted. After all, this is the first time the Hoops have won a group stage since they have been introduced to European competition.
It was good to see that on an occasion that seemed low key at times, the Hoops players were motivated to put in a display that saw the team ease to a comfortable victory. In years to come this will be remembered as a memorable Celtic season in Europe. Few people would have expected the Hoops to top the group so comfortable.
Remarkable form shown in Europe

But there is no arguing with Celtic’s form in Europe this season. 13 points from 15 games is a remarkable achievement. Neil Lennon and the players should be proud of how Celtic handled what could have been a difficult draw.
With the games coming thick and fast, there won’t be a lot of time for Celtic to dwell on their European achievements. The Hoops return to league action against Ross County. When the draw for the last 32 is made next month however, and Celtic are amongst the seeded teams, then perhaps it is time to reflect on how well the team has performed.
