Chris Sutton has been impressed by ‘superb’ Mikey Johnston

Chris Sutton has named the player that has impressed him during Celtic’s pre-seasons tours to Austria and Switzerland.

The player is Hoops attacker Mikey Johnston.

“The real deal”

“Mikey Johnston has been superb in pre-season and this kid really looks as though he could develop into the real deal” Sutton said, as reported by the Daily Record.

That is some very high praise indeed from Sutton. He seems to be very impressed with the Celtic attacker. However, it could well be an opinion that is shared by the staff at Celtic.

Played his way into the Celtic team

It should be remembered that Johnston managed to play his way into the Celtic side at the end of the season. He started in the Scottish Cup Final.

Therefore, Neil Lennon must admire the player and his capabilities. We shall find out more about his place in the Hoops pecking order when the team to play Sarajevo is announced.

Should Johnston start, it could well be a sign that he is going to be a first-team regular for Celtic.

He has made an impression in pre-season, as highlighted by Sutton. As a result, you would think that Johnston will start for the Hoops when the Champions League qualifiers begin. If he does, he will be looking to turn in a performance that will enable him to keep his place in the side.
