Celtic legend Chris Sutton isn’t afraid to give his opinion on football matters since becoming a pundit. He is often outspoken when having his say on players and managers.

This hasn’t changed when it comes to his opinion on Celtic’s £7 million summer signing from Toulouse, Christopher Jullien.

Sutton has declared himself a fan of the player.

“Looking phenomenal”

“Jullien’s looking phenomenal. Things are looking good” he said, as reported by the Scottish Sun.

Jullien has certainly settled down well at Celtic after a slow start to life in Glasgow. He missed out on the Champions League loss to Cluj, but since then he has been a rock at the heart of the Hoops defence.

He was excellent in the 2-0 win over Rangers at Ibrox, and was similarly solid in the 1-1 draw with Rennes in the Europa League.

A no nonsense defender

It is easy to see why Sutton is such a fan of the player. He is a no nonsense defender, who likes to get the job done with a minimum of fuss.

Neil Lennon will be delighted with how Celtic’s biggest signing of the summer has performed for the club. He has been key to some of Celtic’s best results so far this season, particularly the win at Ibrox.

His performance against Rangers was calm and composed, and that is just what is needed if you are going to win at the home of your biggest rivals.

Should Jullien maintain his high level of performance, he could well be in the running to be Scotland’s player of the year.
