Chris Sutton had the Rangers supporters on absolute strings as he goaded them after their Celtic Park draw.
Celtic drew 1-1 with their Glasgow rivals in a crucial top-of-the-table clash at Parkhead today. Many seen the clash as our rivals’ final chance to push themselves into the title-race. However, their failure to secure the points leaves Celtic just 4 away from the title.
And Sutton stated on Twitter that the draw was “comfortable” as he clearly took a tongue-in-cheek approach to his full-time tweet after our rivals managed some late pressure:
The game also could’ve gone either way. Yet again, Celtic had the lead heading into the closing stages. Jota’s opener looked to have secured us a monumental 3 points. However, Fashion Salaka to his credit fired home a fine finish at the near post to snatch a point.
Rangers had their chances in the closing stages as they desperately threw men forward. But despite clipping the post with a late Sakala effort, Celtic held out to ensure their lead at the top wasn’t damaged.
Celtic fully merited their point – let’s not forget the first 45
The narrative here from Rangers fans appears to be that their team dominated. However, they’re clearly forgetting the first half in which Celtic were in control and missed a great opportunity to make it 2-0 through Daizen Maeda.
Maeda could even have had a brace if he had netted his other big chance in the second 45 too. It was hardly a case of wave after wave of Rangers attacks. All that happened here is that they finished the game strongly.
Celtic 1-1 Rangers | LIVE Reaction
Sure, they’ll point to the fact they had 14 shots to our 9. But we had more of the ball whilst many of their efforts didn’t exactly trouble Joe Hart in goal.
Let’s also not forget that the onus was on Rangers to get the result. They needed it a lot more than we did, and that showed in the closing stages. They failed in their mission, yet are desperately trying to take some sort of moral victory from drawing the game.
And it’s clear Sutton caught plenty of them on hooks with his post-match tweet. Here’s a look at some of the reaction:
Must have been watching the wrong game.. Rangers statistically were the better team 🖕🔴⚪️🔵

Comfortable draw you are absolutely deluded Sutton. Your team again where running on empty with 20 minutes to go again after Rangers played in a European Semi Final on Thursday.
