Celtic legend Chris Sutton seems to be basking in the glory of another Rangers title bid going up in flames – as he highlighted an interesting quote from Gers boss Steven Gerrard.

While Neil Lennon’s rampant Celts were demolishing Hearts 5-0 at Parkhead, our rivals were coming unstuck in Ayrshire once again – as they went down 2-1 to Kilmarnock.

Gerrard decided to lambast his battered and bruised Ibrox players once again at Rugby Park, and it didn’t go unnoticed by Sutton who took to Twitter shortly afterwards.

The former forward wrote: “Some statement this: ‘we couldn’t handle the pressure'”, as he quoted Gerrard’s comments from the BT Sport interview.

Sutton is right to highlight Gerrard comments on “pressure”

When you see Rangers faltering under the pressure like last night, it really does put into perspective just how far our team are ahead in terms of their mentality.

Yes, the Ibrox side may have gotten the better of us a few times over the last year, but those were all one off games.

When it really comes down to it, we are streets ahead of them in terms of experience and know how.

Take how we reacted to losing the first goal at Hamilton Accies a few weeks ago, in comparison to them last night.

Our side have thrived on adversity over the past few seasons. Like when we won after going behind twice at Ibrox, or coming from 2-0 and 3-1 down at Fir Park or a similar scoreline at St. Johnstone.

We know we will always have that in our favour, until (or if) Rangers ever manage to topple us.

For now we just have to keep applying the pressure on them. The way to do that is very simple: keep winning.
