Celtic legend Chris Sutton is hopeful that the current uncertainty over the transfer window will lead to Odsonne Edouard staying with the Hoops to lead the charge for 10 in a row, the Daily Record reports.
At the moment, no one is yet sure what will happen with the transfer window that is set to take place this summer. The current football lockdown has thrown everything into confusion.
Now Sutton has had his say on the matter, and how it could affect the French striker’s future at the Scottish Champions.
“No one has a clue when football is going to return which means it is sheer folly to consider the market will be open during the usual times” Sutton said, writing in his Daily Record column.
“Utter chaos and confusion”
“There is a very good chance of utter chaos and confusion clouding the transfer market and making it a whole lot easier just to sit tight for a spell and wait for the summer of 2021. Which, in the case of Edouard, would spell some encouraging news for Celtic fans”
You would imagine that when the window reopens team will be interested in Edouard. After all, he was in excellent form before the lockdown started.
However, as Sutton says, you can’t predict anything with football at the moment. Who knows when Celtic will get the nod to start playing this season, if at all.
Uncertainty may encourage star to stay
The uncertainty might well lead Edouard to think that it is easier to stay with the Hoops until things get back to relatively normal.
After he has helped the Hoops clinch 10 in a row, then it would be a good time to sell the player on, but of course that could depend on the new transfer market.
It is going to be a very interesting few months ahead for Celtic, for all kinds of reasons, and the future of Edouard is just one of those.
