Chris Sutton identifies three areas Celtic must improve in

Celtic legend Chris Sutton has declared himself unimpressed with the club’s transfer business so far. The Hoops have signed four players this summer, with the biggest signing the £7 million spent on centre-back Christopher Jullien.

However, the former Hoops striker thinks that some areas of the squad still need to be improved. He has identified three areas in particular.

“There are still too many grey areas for me at Celtic. Questions to be answered” Sutton said, as reported by the Daily Record.

“They need more full-back cover, they need some freshness in the midfield, and they need another striker.”

If Sutton gets his way that would that the Hoops will have signed up to seven players this summer. That could well happen. However, it could well depend on who leaves the club.

Should Kieran Tierney leave the Hoops, then probably two new full-backs would need to be signed. There is a glut of players in the midfield area. However, should one or two of those players leave then more will be added to the squad.

As for strikers, the Hoops currently only have three first-team forwards on the books. All the three players have been out of the team at one time or another during the last season.

Therefore, it makes sense for the Hoops to add another striker to the squad before the transfer window closes.

Celtic’s squad should still be good enough to win the league title this season. However, if the club want to make an impact in Europe then more signings are needed.
