Celtic, over the last two seasons, have been absolutely dominant on the domestic scene. As Ange Postecoglou looks to build on last season’s success by clinching a domestic treble, progress in Europe will undoubtedly be on his mind as he prepares for next season.
Transfer additions will be a must, as will outgoings, and former Celtic striker Chris Sutton says that if Celtic were to progress in Europe, there are four players that would be invaluable to achieving that.
Speaking on The Record Celtic podcast, Sutton said, “It’s okay Celtic or Ange Postecoglou, saying right well, we can sell some big players, but there are sort of non-negotiables in that.

“In my view, [Cameron] Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate and Callum McGregor, Celtic cannot do without them. And Kyogo, they are four players who Celtic absolutely cannot sell.”
I don’t think there are many Celtic supporters who will disagree with that opinion. Ange Postecoglou has already proven that he does not shy away from making big transfer decisions if they are required.

How he quickly moved on Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis is a testament to that. But would the Celtic manager be of a mind to move on any of the players Sutton has listed here?
I would say absolutely not. Especially the Celtic captain. Next season’s side needs to be built around these four. They are the spine of the Celtic team.
If we can add a little bit of quality and get more out of the likes of Sead Haksabanovic and Liel Abada, then there is no reason why we cannot get out of the group stages next season.
