Celtic icon Chris Sutton has mocked Ally McCoist for milking Rangers’ Scottish Premiership win this season.

Quoting a clip satirising the guard of honour ‘debate’ in Scottish football, the former Hoops striker said: “🤣🤣1 out of 10 (4 trebles across the city) and Ally is milking the s##t out of it…👇

The clip features some good-natured banter between Sutton and McCoist, with the former declaring he couldn’t care less if Celtic give Rangers a guard of honour or not.

As it should be of course. The furore surrounding whether or not Celtic will applaud the Ibrox side onto the pitch at Celtic Park in the upcoming derby is ridiculous.

It’s not going to happen. Nor should it. This is a rivalry for goodness sake, is nothing sacred in football anymore? Fine, they were good enough to win the Scottish top-flight this season but Celtic don’t owe them anything.

Count the Celtic trophies

Celtic’s period of dominance in Scottish football over the last decade has been unparalleled. Nine titles in a row. A quadruple treble. An invincibles season.

Obviously, they are celebrating their first major honour, why wouldn’t they? But Celtic will be back.

It’s easy for some to get swept away with the media hype about the Ibrox side but in time this past Celtic era will be celebrated as a monumental achievement.

I have no problem lobbing criticism at Celtic for the way the club collapsed this season, but we still have a strong future if club staff make the correct decisions over the coming months.

I suspect we’ll have trophies of our own to celebrate before long.

Anyway, it’s always nice to see Sutton deliver a wee wind-up to brighten up the day.

In other news, Billy Stark has been talking up a promising Celtic transfer target.
