Chris Sutton has questioned whether or not Brendan Rodgers regrets leaving Celtic after Leicester City missed out on Champions League qualification today.
For much of the Premier League season, the Foxes had been in a very strong top-four position and looked to be on their way to Europe’s premier club competition next term.
They ended 2019 in second position, 11 points ahead of Manchester United, who were eighth at the time.
However, after a collapse of form, they had to beat United today to book their Champions League place.
Unfortunately for Rodgers, his team lost 2-0 and they’ll now have to settle for Europa League action.
Sutton said on Twitter: “Wonder whether Brendan Rodgers regrets leaving Celtic now…”

It’s the kind of amusing punditry that Sutton is known for but it does raise an interesting point.
Celtic are now playing for history and Leicester look to be on the slide. They’ve won just two of their last ten matches.
Will Rodgers wish he had been a bit more patient with his project in Glasgow and moved to England after the completion of the ten-in-a-row achievement?
We’ll likely never know the true answer.

In any case it doesn’t matter now with Neil Lennon confidently leading the club forward.
Celtic were excellent last season and arguably an improvement on the 2018/19 team that Rodgers put together.
We won’t be looking back as another trophy chase comes into our sights.
