Chris Sutton reacts as Rangers star backs down on Celtic comments

The Glasgow Derby always brings its usual fallout.

The winning team’s fans get to gloat and earn the bragging rights whilst the losing side slinks off to lick their wounds.

But over the weekend, Rangers midfielder, Todd Cantwell, made a bizarre statement that Celtic did not win the tie on Saturday, Rangers lost it.

Look, I get it. I understand that there still needs to be a bullish attitude in the face of defeat when you play for Celtic or Rangers but what fans of either club don’t buy is trying to airbrush over exactly what happened in the game.

We all saw for ourselves that Celtic toiled in the first half. But even so, we still managed to be the first team to break the deadlock and when all is said and done, the stats (and the three points) tells you exactly who won the derby.

But it seems that Cantwell tried to put the record straight this morning in a reply to a Football Scotland article:

And as you can see, the tweet went viral as fans of both sides got their tuppence worth in but it was the reply from Chris Sutton that caught my eye:

More talking being done in the media instead of on the pitch by the Rangers players doesn’t really do anyone any good when the team is sitting twelve points behind with almost thirty goals less to their name.

But for Celtic, nothing much else changes. No doubt the team have already moved on from Saturday’s game and are now focused on the next challenge away to Kilmarnock next Sunday as Ange closes in on the date that he and his team can wrap up the title.
