Celtic’s draw against Rangers at Ibrox seems to have changed the narrative surrounding the title race now.

A lot was made about how the momentum had shifted just a couple of short months ago when Brendan Rodgers‘ side suffered a dip in form and Rangers seemed to be resurgent under Philippe Clement.

The Celtic manager addressed the narrative that was being put out on a number of occasions and even though the Hoops had already beaten Rangers twice, it seemed as though certain sections of the media had written off Celtic’s chances of retaining the title.

But now, after taking a point from Ibrox in a game that Rangers were favourites to win, it seems that the narrative may now be switching after Robbie Savage surprised Chris Sutton with a title claim that the former Premier League footballer made last night.

Robbie Savage predicts title ‘favourites’ between Celtic and Rangers

The two former pros always have little niggles at each other whenever it comes to discussing Celtic and Rangers and yesterday’s draw led to this exchange between the two on the BBC 606 Phone In:

Sutton: “It took until the second half for Rangers to get going. Adam Idah then comes on a minute after Rangers get that goal.”

“Unbelievable how the stadium is so high and then the equaliser. Who is it a better point for?”

Savage: “Rangers have got to go to Celtic haven’t they?”

Sutton: “Yeah.”

Savage: “Celtic favourites.”

Sutton: “You make Celtic favourites do you?”

Savage: “I do yeah.”

If it wasn’t for VAR awarding a second-half penalty for Rangers, I firmly believe Celtic would have left Ibrox with all three points yesterday.

But as it stands, the league table remains the same with Celtic top until Rangers face Dundee on Wednesday night.

Celtic, however, have just one more fixture to complete before the split and, as Savage says, one of those will be Rangers at Celtic Park.

If Brendan Rodgers can successfully negotiate that fixture and with all his big hitters returning from injury, it would be hard to see how his team can be stopped in their bid to retain the title this season.
