Incredibly, the Bhoys sailed into an ironclad 6-0 lead at halftime due to further efforts from Daizen Maeda, Greg Taylor and Callum McGregor, going off to a rousing reception from delighted supporters.
To finish up, 18-year-old midfielder Daniel Kelly curled home to net his first goal for the club on 63 minutes, providing a landmark moment for the youngster to look back on in years to come.
Despite Michael Mellon’s late consolation for the visitors, everyone at Parkhead appeared to be singing from the same hymn sheet as a feeling of unity came to the fore between the fans, players and manager.
On another positive note, Celtic whittled down the goal difference to just a single strike that separates ourselves and Rangers, and we all know how important that could become at the end of this season.
Moving on, Brendan Rodgers will now prepare his side for a must-win clash away to Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle on Sunday.
Chris Sutton isn’t getting carried away by Celtic win over Dundee
Chris Sutton has agreed that it was a ‘big night’ for Celtic as they thrashed Dundee under the lights; however, he isn’t getting too ‘carried away’ amid his old side’s trip to the capital this weekend.
Speaking during Sky Sports’ live coverage of Livingston vs Motherwell, the 50-year-old stated: “Let’s not get too carried away with that. It was a big night for the goal difference. Rangers one better off are they? So it is a big night in that respect.
“But Rangers getting a win at Rugby Park was massive for them. What a game we have got on Sunday. Celtic go to Hearts, and let’s get it right; we don’t know which Celtic team is going to turn up on the evidence of what we’ve seen this season.”
Undoubtedly, Sutton has gone down the conservative route as he refuses to get ahead of himself regarding the Hoops’ chances of being able to ride off into the sunset with the Scottish Premiership trophy.
Of course, he will have seen his fair share of title drama during the height of his playing career, and he does have a point, taking his comments on Celtic’s consistency into account.
Nevertheless, it is our prerogative as fans to get excited, and it is nice to have some positivity in the air surrounding the club again following a period of frustration on the pitch.
Now, Celtic need to show real consistency in both the league and cup.
