Celtic legend Chris Sutton isn’t ready to yet crown the Hoops as champions, but he does believe the team is ‘on course’ to make it nine in a row, the Daily Record reports.
The league leaders have a commanding 10 point advantage over Rangers. With 12 league games to go, that is a significant advantage, even if the Ibrox side do have a game in hand.
Hoops boss won’t think title race is over
Is the title race over? Neil Lennon probably doesn’t think so. It seems that Chris Sutton doesn’t think so either, although he does state that at the moment, the Hoops look set to make it nine in a row.
“Look, only someone silly would say the title race is over. It’s not. But as it stands, Celtic look on course to win it” Sutton said, writing in his column in the Daily Record.
Sutton is correct in his comments, although judging by how consistent the Hoops have been over the last eight seasons, it would be a huge shock to see the team drop a host of points in the last 12 games of the season.
Still work to be done before celebrations can begin
However, no one at Celtic will be taking the title for granted. There is still some work to before the team can proudly be confirmed as nine in a row champions for the second time in its history.
The cliché about taking one game at a time has to apply to the Hoops going forward. Get the three points and then on to the next fixture should be the attitude that is adopted by Neil Lennon and his players.
If the team can do that, then the title race will be over sooner than later, and the celebrations can begin.
