Celtic legend Chris Sutton was impressed with the Hoops’ performance overall in the recent 2-0 Europa League win over AIK.
However, he seems to be not convinced with one area of Celtic’s squad management. Whilst lauding Mikey Johnston, he seems bemused as to why the likes of Marian Shved and Scott Sinclair have rarely featured so far this season.
“The pecking order puzzles me”
“Mikey Johnston was terrific. He’s really blossoming, but behind him in the pecking order puzzles me” Sutton said, as reported by the Daily Record.
“Lewis Morgan looks the back-up but what has happened with the £2million of Marian Shved? And Scott Sinclair seems to be out in the cold. It still looks a bit of a jigsaw to me.”
Emergence of winger has been unexpected
Morgan’s emergence this season has been unexpected. He didn’t play often under Brendan Rodgers, but Neil Lennon seems to be a fan of the player.
As for Shved, the Hoops boss told Football Scotland that he is still adapting to the game in Scotland, which could take some time.
The Sinclair situation is a bit odd, as he didn’t even make the squad against AIK, but Lennon seems to be happy for the moment with Johnston and Morgan competing for the starting berth in the team.
That could change if some more signings are made before the transfer window closes. Sutton would perhaps like that to be the case.
