Celtic’s draw with Aberdeen gave Rangers the perfect opportunity to close the gap on both clubs at the top of the table.
Before today’s away trip to Kilmarnock, Rangers sat six points behind Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table with a massive goal difference advantage of +13 to the Scottish champions.
A game against Derek McInnes’ struggling Kilmarnock was the perfect opportunity to close the gap to just three points but after losing 1-0 at Rugby Park, Chris Sutton hit out at the Ibrox club for blowing the opportunity to get themselves back into the title race.
Sutton hails ‘superbly organised’ Kilmarnock as Celtic ‘widen the gap’ to Rangers
On punditry duty with Sky Sports, Sutton took to social media to deliver his instant reaction to Rangers’ defeat to Kilmarnock and, as usual, the Celtic hero didn’t miss.
Sutton said, “Rangers were well and truly Killied. Well played Kilmarnock👏👏 A superbly organised and disciplined performance. Celtic and Aberdeen widen the gap at the top…”
Celtic’s next three Scottish Premiership games compared to Rangers
As previously mentioned on 67 Hail Hail, Celtic’s next three fixtures have a tough away trip to Motherwell next Sunday and then Dundee will visit Celtic Park on the 30th of October for a 7:45pm kick-off.

After that, there is another international break and when the season resumes again, Derek McInnes will bring his Kilmarnock side to Celtic Park on the 10th of November.
Rangers however, have high-flying St Mirren coming to Ibrox next weekend and then they face a tough trip to Pittodrie to face a very impressive Jimmy Thelin’s Aberdeen before the international break.
After Aberdeen, Rangers face another tough away trip to Motherwell who are sitting nicely in the top six.
If Rangers drop any further points in the league in any of these three games then it looks like Aberdeen will, in fact, be Celtic’s main challenger for the title this season.
