Celtic will go into the new SPFL season as strong favourites over Rangers.

Despite the 49ers’ takeover of Rangers, Celtic will still be backed to win their fifth title in a row as Brendan Rodgers looks to defend his title.

Ibrox boss Russell Martin reacted to Rangers drawing Celtic on the 31st of August as the new Rangers boss admitted the first Glasgow Derby of the season will be ‘exciting’.

And now, Chris Sutton faced off with Kris Boyd as the Celtic hero got his first dig of the new season into his fellow Sky Sports pundit before a ball has even been kicked.

Chris Sutton reminds Kris Boyd how easily Celtic beat Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title

Sutton and Boyd are famous for their live Sky Sports spats and whilst this one was a relatively tame affair, the Celtic icon sent his fellow pundit a strong reminder about the Parkhead club’s dominance of Scottish football.

Sutton told Sky Sports, “Well, Celtic have been the dominant force for a long time now in Scotland, haven’t they?

“The truth is, last season, I think Kris would admit, it wasn’t really a title race at all, albeit, Rangers had the better of Celtic in the in the head to heads, and Celtic will go into this season as strong favourites to win it again.

“I’m a little bit concerned that Celtic haven’t got more players, and I think that is important, that when a team is as strong as Celtic have been, that they add to the squad and freshen things up.

“But I’m sure there will be a couple more moves in the in the pipeline, and players brought in.”

Kris Boyd knows the strength of Celtic ahead of the new 2025/26 Scottish Premiership season

Even Kris Boyd can’t deny that the strength of Celtic will pose a problem for Rangers next season as the Sky Sports pundit delivers his instant reaction to the fixture release.

Boyd told Sky Sports, “I think every Scottish fan will look forward to the first Old F-rm game of the season.

“But I think for Rangers looking at the fixtures, they’ve got to get off to a good start. It’s a decent opportunity and Russell Martin needs to go off to a good start.

“Because we’ve seen Celtic get away early doors and be very difficult to catch. So, you know, Rangers will be looking at their opening fixtures and think there is an opportunity to pick up points.”
