Chris Wilder and Peter Crouch have this week been talking about the appeal of the Celtic vs Rangers derby.

The Hoops face off against their rivals at Celtic Park on Saturday, in the fourth meeting of the sides this season.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side are unbeaten in the three encounters so far and will have a stadium packed full of Celtic fans roaring them on this weekend.

While most feel like the reduction in away supports at league fixtures has damaged the reputation of the derby, it’s clear that the match is still held in high regard by many down south.

Watford boss Chris Wilder has been in the Daily Record today, talking up the fixture.

Wilder said: “We also have our own rivalries in football and we understand them very well. I’m not from Glasgow but I know the deal with the rivalry historically and these are huge occasions for the people who care.

“This is the biggest derby, every fan in football understands the importance of their own derby but this is the biggest game around, certainly when you look around, it’s the biggest derby certainly in European football.”

The subject of big derbies was also prominent on this week’s ‘That Peter Crouch Podcast‘ with Crouch admitting he’d love to go to a Celtic vs Rangers game at some stage.

“I’ve played in some derbies, some of the best derbies. And there’s [other] derbies I want to go to.

“I’ve never been to the Glasgow derby – Celtic and Rangers. That’s something that I’ve always wanted to do.”

There may be no away supporters at the final two league derbies of the season, but Saturday should still be a special afternoon at Celtic Park.

The league can’t officially be won this weekend, but good luck trying to calm the Celtic support down at full-time if we get a victory.

The game will be shown around the world and it’s a real opportunity for the team and the support to put on a show.

Celtic Park will be bouncing and there’s not much that comes close in world football when that is the case.

Let’s hope the likes of Wilder and Crouch and waxing lyrical about us both on and off the pitch.
