Celtic centre-back Christopher Jullien has made an intriguing comment about his first six months at Celtic. The player signed for the Hoops in a £7 million deal from Toulouse in the summer.

Despite that price tag, he is surprised at the number of games he has played so far in his short spell with the Hoops.

“When I came here I didn’t expect to play in so many games. I have enjoyed it because you want to play as much as possible but it will be good to take a break” he said, as quoted by the Daily Record, ahead of Celtic’s winter break training camp in Dubai.

“It’s not just a physical rest – it’s also mental.”

It is intriguing to see Jullien discuss the number of games he has played for the Hoops so far. In his time at the club, he has played 31 times for Celtic, and has become one of Neil Lennon’s most important players.

That was always going to happen though, when you consider the amount of money that the Hoops spent on the player. He was going to be one of the first names on the team-sheet most weeks, and that is what has happened, as he has formed a partnership with Kristoffer Ajer.

He might be surprised by the number of games he has played for the Hoops so far, but that has not stopped Jullien’s time at the club from being a success so far.

Jullien has scored two memorable goals in his short time at the club, the winner in the 2-1 victory over Lazio at Celtic Park, and the only goal in the Betfred Cup Final.

Hopefully those goals will help inspire Jullien to make an even greater contribution to Celtic when the Hoops return to action after the winter break, with a league to win.
