Celtic’s £7 million centre-back Christopher Jullien had probably his best game for the Hoops in the 2-0 Europa League play-off win over AIK.

The defender looked composed in the middle of the Hoops defence, and his partnership with Jozo Simunovic could be one to build on in the future.

However, Jullien paid tribute to two of his team-mates after the game. He went on social media to salute James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard, the Hoops’ goalscorers in the game.

“First part of the job done, let’s keep the good work. Shoutout to the 2 cracks” Jullien said on his Twitter account.

There is no doubt that Forrest and Edouard deserve plenty of credit for their performances against AIK. But Jullien can be pleased with his performance.

He didn’t perform at his very best against either Motherwell or Dunfermline. However, he looked comfortable against AIK, who are possibly the best team he has played against for the Hoops.

Jullien hasn’t really been helped by the stop-start nature of his Celtic career. However, he could look much more comfortable once he has a number of games for the Hoops.

It will be interesting to see if Jullien starts the Hoops’ next three matches, against Hearts, AIK and Rangers. Should he be picked for those games, it will show that he is going to be a mainstay for the Hoops going forward.
