Christopher Jullien could be out for as many as nine months, Neil Lennon has told reporters in a Celtic press conference today.

The Celtic manager had previously told the media that Jullien was facing a spell on the sidelines of three to four months [The Daily Record].

However, it appears his absence will be for far longer and almost certainly into next season.

The Bhoys boss was asked about reports he’d travelled to France.

Lennon said [YouTube]: “I’ve said he’s out for a long period of time. Maybe six to nine months. He’s just gone back to do some rehab in France.”

A big blow for Christopher Jullien and Celtic

It’s a significant blow to Celtic’s summer plans, when European qualification will take centre stage.

At the moment, we’re due to play in the non-champions route of the Champions League but could also end up playing Europa League qualifiers.

Not having Jullien fit would be a real problem, especially with Kristoffer Ajer’s future uncertain and Shane Duffy due to return to Brighton.

With the Frenchman returning home for rehab, we’re unlikely to get an update on his progress for quite a while. Today’s news from Lennon will be an important marker for fans keeping track.

We wish Jullien all the best with his recovery!
