Celtic have popped up on the Australian version of ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? this week, with host Eddie McGuire declaring the Hoops to be the ‘greatest soccer team in the world’.
A contestant on ‘Millionaire Hotseat’ was asked: “Which of these ‘seas’ is not a part of the Mediterranean Sea?” The options were Balearic, Adriatic, Tyrrhenian and Celtic.
After the contestant opted for Celtic, in an effort to win $20,000, McGuire would do the usual gameshow teasing.
He said: “You reckon that they wouldn’t have a sea in the Mediterranean Sea named after the greatest soccer team in the world? Glasgow Celtic? No? No? I’m a big Celtic man.”
The lucky contestant was right, moving on to the next stage of the cash gauntlet.
You can see a clip of the show via Twitter user @FrusinateBhoy, or if you’re not a fan of swearing, below via @OldFirmFacts1.
Host McGuire is a big sports man and is the current president of Australian rules football side Collingwood. Clearly he’s a man of good taste if one of his loves is the Hoops.
At the time of publishing the clip had gone viral on Twitter, with @FrusinateBhoy‘s post garnering close to 4000 likes and hundreds of retweets.
It’s not the first time Celtic have popped up on a high profile quiz show and found an audience online, with a clip of contestants winning BBC show Pointless going viral back in 2017 when the correct answer was ‘Henrik Larsson’.
It’s always a bit of good fun to see Celtic pop up in a context like this.
Celtic is a club that prides itself on having pockets of supporters in all corners of the globe and McGuire is certainly doing his bit to prove that correct!
Hail, hail Eddie!
