Whilst Celtic fans were gutted to see Ange Postecogloou head for the exit door in the summer to join Tottenham Hotspur.

Many understood that the lure of the Premier League was too hard to turn down for the Treble-winning boss, who is now being tipped to become Liverpool’s next manager.

Ange Postecoglou has hardly got warm in his seat at Spurs, but his name is already being talked about to replace the soon-to-be-departing Jurgen Klopp.

The German shocked the footballing world on Friday when he announced that he was going to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

As you can imagine, it sparked an outcry by those from Anfield, but also raised the question as to who will replace him.

Celtic legend Peter Grant thinks Ange Postecoglou is the guy, even though he only just joined Spurs, as he told Go Radio

Would a manager leave a club like Tottenham for Liverpool? Absolutely. This is just a case of do the powers that be at Anfield consider him a candidate.

Well, as the months tick towards the one-time Premier League and Champions League winner leaving, it will become more clear as to who will take charge.

Ange Postecoglou – Liverpool’s next manager?

“It will be interesting, will they go for Ange,” questioned Grant. “The type of football Liverpool fans are used to now, with that passion and commitment for that manager.

“I know they talk about Xabi Alonso. But anyone who has watched Leverkusen. They play slightly differently. The way Xabi played really. It will be interesting. That’s where you have to be very, very careful.

“For me, if you are looking for a manager now who plays the way Klopp has done and not changing too much, then Ange Postecoglou, for me.

“And he was a Liverpool supporter, wasn’t he, as a youngster?!”

Ange Postecoglou’s style

As the Celtic faithful were grateful to witness on a weekly basis last season. The style of Postecooglou is one of the best in Europe.

Fullbacks like number 10s, playing at 100 miles-per-hour, showcasing no fear and always on the front foot…and delivering the trophies!

It’s a rock and roll style that would certainly suit what Klopp produced at Liverpool over the years, so from that sense, he would be a fit.

And as Celtic fans can testify, Postecoglou is more than ready and good enough for such a highly-pressured job.
