CFR Cluj “expect” to come to Celtic Park and win on Thursday night, according to their captain Mario Camora.

The Romanian champions remain the only side to have beaten Neil Lennon’s men so far this season and the fact they did it in Glasgow will give them a boost of confidence for the upcoming Europa League clash.

Camora admits that it will be “tough” for his side but he did big up their chances following their shock win over Lazio on matchday one.

“We are aiming for three points,” he told the Daily Record. “If we don’t play for that then there is no point turning up.”

“But not let’s forget, we are a team who have already shown what we can do by beating a club like Lazio . If you have belief and spirit, you can beat anyone.

“I think that result made a lot of clubs across Europe sit up and take notice of us. It also means we are now in a good position in the Group.

“In Scotland it will be difficult, but we have won before and we expect to do it again.”

Celtic fans have a big role to play against Cluj

The Celtic support are likely to play a big role in Thursday’s match, but perhaps in a slightly different way to the usual. Yes, they will be tasked with roaring the team on to victory but they will also have to remain patient if things aren’t going quite to plan.

Cluj have no standout players but they have proven themselves to be a well organised side who give little away. The fact that the eliminated Astana and Maccabi Tel-Aviv from the Champions League prior to us and have since beaten Lazio shows that they are capable of taking a scalp.

Their mind games in the press may be designed to unsettle the Celtic support and make them impatient and tense. The Hoops fanbase shouldn’t be expecting us to thump the Romanians despite their lowly position in the UEFA rankings.

It’s likely to be another tense affair when a single goal could be enough to win the match. If the Celtic Park support can remain patient and fully behind the team, hopefully it is us who can grab a big goal or two.
